Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Mary is a proud Virginian (though a world traveler). She received her BA in History and Religious Studies from the College of William and Mary and her MA in Religious Studies at Duke University.
Mary has worked for the White House Historical Association, the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, Au Pair New Zealand, Duke University, and the Diocese of Raleigh. She has spent time transcribing historical documents, writing reports, evaluating education and procedure, taking care of and teaching children, teaching adults, and as a youth minister and Director of Communications. She speaks German and a little bit of Arabic and Maori.
In addition to her native and beloved Virginia, Mary has lived in Italy, Germany, New Zealand, and North Carolina and loves to travel. She dreams of a trip to Antarctica when she retires. Mary enjoys good food and coffee, new experiences, and pushing the limits of her fear: bungy jumping, paragliding, and sky-diving are a few such examples!
As a relatively new transplant to Anchorage, she enjoys exploring the area and making new friends.
