High school faith formation is divided into two parts: Confirmation preparation and post-confirmation. Confirmation preparation is a two year process (see our sacramental preparation page for more information). Post-confirmation faith formation is for high school youth interested in diving deeper into their faith and is driven by the students.
We meet weekly from September to early May. DUE TO COVID, ALL CLASSES ARE CURRENTLY AT HOME. WE ANTICIPATE MEETING IN PERSON IN THE 2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR.
Please email our Director of Catechetical Ministries, Mary Allison, at mallison@st.patsak.org with any questions. You can register your child by going to the registration page.
Confirmation preparation begins in 9th grade. Youth will cover Scripture, Prayer and Service, and the Sacraments. They will use the Midwest Theological Forum's Didache Series. Catholic School families should see below. Confirmation families should reference the Confirmation Parent Packet.
Confirmation Preparation continues in 10th grade. Candidates cover Happiness, the Mass, and Theology of the Body using the Didache Series. Confirmation families should reference the Confirmation Parent Packet. Catholic school youth must attend Confirmation preparation classes in person in Year 2.
Designed for high school youth who have received the sacrament of Confirmation and wish to continue their faith formation, this is a student led class. Interspersed with fun activities and class nights, the catechists will cover topics proposed by students and approved by the Director of Catechetical Ministries. Some topics may include: The Screwtape Letters, history of the Church, lives of saints, vocations, apologetics, Scripture study, and more.
Families who have enrolled their children in Catholic high schools should register their child for Faith Formation, but indicate "Catholic School" on the form. Youth who are pursuing the sacrament of Confirmation must, however, attend their second year of preparation at the parish. Please email Mary if you have any questions.
