High school faith formation is divided into two parts: Confirmation preparation and post-confirmation. Confirmation preparation is a two year process (see our sacramental preparation page for more information). Post-confirmation faith formation is for high school youth interested in diving deeper into their faith and is driven by the students.
We meet weekly from August to early May.
We expect parents to bring their children to Mass before class. The Eucharist is the source and the summit of our faith and we prioritize the celebration of Mass. Our catechists will often reference the homily or the Sunday readings.
Please email our Director of Catechetical Ministries with any questions. You can register your child by going to the registration page.
Ninth grade meets Sundays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Upper Room.
Confirmation preparation begins in 9th grade. Youth will cover Scripture, Prayer and Service, and the Sacraments. They will use the Midwest Theological Forum's Didache Series. Catholic School families should see below. Confirmation families should reference the Confirmation Parent Packet.
Tenth grade girls meet Sundays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Tara Lounge.
Tenth grade boys meet Sundays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Hospitality Room.
Confirmation Preparation continues in 10th grade. Candidates cover Happiness, the Mass, and Theology of the Body using the Didache Series. Confirmation families should reference the Confirmation Parent Packet. Catholic school youth must attend Confirmation preparation classes in person in Year 2.
The CIA meets Sundays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in Theater A (the room to the left of the stage in Deacon's Hall).
Designed for high school youth who have received the sacrament of Confirmation and wish to continue their faith formation, this is a student led class. Interspersed with fun activities and class nights, the catechists will cover topics proposed by students and approved by the Director of Catechetical Ministries. Some topics may include: C.S. Lewis's The Great Divorce, the history of the Church, lives of saints, vocations, apologetics, Scripture study, and more.
Families who have enrolled their children in Catholic high schools should register their child for Faith Formation, but indicate "Catholic School" on the form. Youth who are pursuing the sacrament of Confirmation must, however, attend their second year of preparation at the parish. Please email Beth if you have any questions.
