Elementary Faith Formation at St. Patrick's is designed with Archdiocesan and USCCB norms in mind, as well as a strong focus on children's learning developmental stage. At the elementary level, we have classes for preschool age 3 (children must be potty-trained) through 5th grade.
We offer both conventional faith formation classes for grades 1 - 6, as well as Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) classes for preschool - grade 6. Parents are a child's first and primary catechist, so please take some time to consider what works best for your family and your child.
We expect that parents will bring their children to Mass either before or after class. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith, and we prioritize the celebration of Mass. During the academic year, Mass is offered on Saturday evenings at 5pm and on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am and 11:30 am.
Classes meet from August through early May.

Montessori style education is a proven pedagogical method by which children learn through exploration. Children learn through intuitive, hands-on experiences. Studies have shown that children who learn in this style are generally more likely to retain the information for longer periods of time. If your child will thrive in a Montessori-based program, we highly recommend this excellent program! Visit our CGS page for more information.
*All Preschool and Kindergarten children are in CGS.
As of 2022, all Preschool and Kindergarten children will be in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Children in second grade will build on what they learned in previous grades, shifting the focus to the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Second graders will use Faith and Life: Jesus Our Life and Sadlier's Sacrament Program. Families have additional obligations and requirements this year. The Parent Packet will be distributed at the annual Parent Meetings AND will be available in the Sacramental Preparation page.
