Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a unique, hands-on approach to the religious formation of children. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, and the principles of Montessori education.  Each of the three levels meets weekly in a specialized learning environment, known as the Atrium.

As Catholic parents, we are most interested in passing on to our children the faith tradition of the Catholic Church, including the celebration of the Holy Mass, the reading of scripture, and a tradition of prayer, both individual and communal.  This is accomplished in the Atrium by providing the children with an environment where they can live and work together as a community of the faithful, a community where the love and worship of God are central.

Each of the Atriums is designed specifically for the developmental needs of the children that attend, and the methods employed by the catechists take into account the individual needs of each child.
