Location and Facilities The Saint John Vianney House of Discernment is located on the beautiful grounds of Saint Patrick's Parish in the city of Anchorage. This diverse and vibrant parish is home to approximately 800 families and is very supportive of prospective seminarians. Although residents of the house may certainly maintain involvement with other parishes in the Archdiocese, they are encouraged to become an active part of the dynamic and faith-filled community of Saint Patrick's. Phone: (907) 332-2235 The Saint John Vianney House of Discernment is a parish rectory, beautifully remodeled with the express intent of housing men in the discernment process. There is room for three residents in addition to one house director. The house provides each resident with a private room, bath and study. In addition to a dialup network connection, the house is wired for infrared data capability, necessitating minor software modifications to a resident's computer. There is a single phone line for residents who do not possess a cellular phone. Long distance phone charges are the responsibility of the resident making the calls. A large dining room, formal living room, spacious kitchen, recreation room, and expansive outdoor wrap-around deck all provide the opportunity for social interaction and leisure activities. There is also room for exercise equipment, work space for personal hobbies, and the storage of personal items. |
